Prawn Curry

INGREDIENTS:
  • Shrimps - 200gms
  • Onion (chopped) - 1 no
  • Potato (peeled and diced) - 1 no
  • Tomato (chopped) - 1 no
  •  Green chillies (sliced) - 2 nos
  • Garlic paste 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger (chopped) - 1tsp
  • Coriander powder
  • Garam masala - 1 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp 
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Oil - 3 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
METHOD:
  • In a pressure cooker add potatoes and water boil it for 4-5 whistles. Keep aside.
  • Devein,wash and clean prawns.
  • Marinate shrimps with 1/2 tsp chili powder , 1/2 coriander powder, 1/2 tsp garam masala, 1/8 tsp of turmeric powder and salt. Keep it aside for 15 mins.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add prawns fry for 3-4 minutes and keep aside.
  • Splutter mustard seeds in the same pan.
  • Add ginger, garlic, green chilies, curry leaves and onions. Saute onions till they become translucent.
  • Now add chopped tomatoes in it.
  • Grind grated coconut with cumin powder,salt,remaining red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala .Make a fine paste with them.
  • Now add the coconut paste in the pan and mix it well and stir occasionally.
  • Now add boiled potatoes and  mix it well.
  • Add 1 cup of water and prawns stir cook for 5 minutes.
  • Serve hot with rice.
