Toor Dal Thoran

INGREDIENTS:
  • Toor dal-1 cup
  • Onion(chopped)-1/2cup
  • Green chillies( chopped) - 2 nos
  • Shredded coconut-1/4 cup
  • Turmeric powder-1/4tsp
  • Chilly powder-1tsp
  • Salt-to taste
  • Coconut oil-1tbsp
  • Dry red chillies-2
  • Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves-1 spring
METHOD:
  • Soak dal for 2 - 3 hours. Drain well.
  • Cook the toor dal in a pressure cooker.
  •  Heat oil in a pan 
  • Splutter mustard seeds and saute dry red chilies and curry leaves.
  • Add cooked toor dal, onions, turmeric powder, chilly powder, coconut and salt.
  • Mix well.
  • Sprinkle a little water on top and cover it with a lid.
  • Cook on a low flame for about 5minutes.
  • Then open it and simmer it until it is dry and separated from another.
