- Split moong dal/cherupayar parippu - 1/2cup
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
- Cumin seeds - 1/8 tsp
- Garlic - 2 pods
- Green chilli - 2 nos
- Ghee - 2 tsp
- Curry leaves - 4 or 5
- Salt – To tasteMETHOD:
- Pressure cook the dal with enough water,turmeric powder and salt.
- Cook for three , four whistles or until done. Mash it well.
- Make a paste of coconut,cumin,garlic and green chillies.
- Add this ground paste to the cooked dal. If you feel that the curry is too thick for you, add a little water.
- Taste and add more salt if required.
- Cook on low - medium till its done.Don’t allow Parippu Curry to boil.
- Add ghee and curry leaves.
- Serve with rice and pappadam.
