JackFruit Jam( Chakka Varatty) Payasam/Kheer

Jackfruit Jam Payasam (1)INGREDIENTS:

  • Chakka Varattty (JackFruit Jam) – 1 cup
  • Coconut Milk/ Drinking Milk – 2 cups
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Dried coconut pieces – 2 Tbsp
  • Sabudhana/Chauwari – 3 Tbsp
  • Cashew nuts – 10 nos
  • Cardomom – 3  nos
  • Ghee- 1 tsp
    METHOD:
  • Cook the Sabudhana/chauwari in a heavy bottomed vessel by adding 3 glasses of water.
  • When it done, it will appear to be transparent and soft.
  • Drain it and keep aside. Sago/chauwari is optional.You can make JackFruit Jam/Chakka Varatty  Pradhaman(Kheer) without Sago/Sabudhana/Chawari.
  • Heat a thick bottomed vessel and add the chakka varatty (JackFruit) in it along with water.
  • Add cardamom pods in it and stir well.
  • Keep stirring so that the Chakka varatty mixes with the water and becomes a liquid.
  • Now add 1 cup coconut milk/drinking milk to it and cook it on medium for 8 to 10 mins or till the quantity of milk become half.
  • Once cooked,add the remaining 1 cup coconut milk/drinking milk  to it and simmer for 5 to 6 mins. Do not boil.Turn off once done.
  • Add cooked Sago/Sabudhana/Chawari in the Payasam/Kheer and mix well.
  • Heat ghee in a pan, add dried coconut pieces in it and fry till become golden color.
  • In the same pan, fry the cashews  till golden.
  • Add fried coconut pieces and cashew nuts  to the pradhaman/Kheer.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature.Jackfruit Jam Payasam (2)
