Boiled Plantains/Ethapazham Puzhungiyathu

Boiled Plantains/Ethapazham Puzhungiyathu is a snack, you can have it anytime. Its taste is amazing.
INGREDIENTS:
  • Ripe Plantains - 2 
METHOD:
  • Wash and cut head and tail end of plantains using a knife.
  • If you want, you can cut plantains into 4 or 5 pieces crosswise.
  • Steam-cook them for about 15 to 20 minutes, until they soften.Remove the steam basket from steamer and let them cool. 
  • Otherwise take the ripe plantains in a microwave safe plate and cook for 3 minutes.This is the easiest method to cook the ripe plantains.Remove from the microwave and let it cool.
  • The outer skin will turn black and insides will turn soft. Peel the skin, cut each piece into 3 or 4 thin rounds.

  • You can have it with wheat flour, Rice flour or Rava/semolina  Puttu.
  • Otherwise take 1/2 tsp of melted ghee and 1/2 tsp of sugar in a small cup. Stir until sugar melts in ghee. Lightly dip each plantain round in ghee-sugar mix, and place it in a plate. Or sprinkle some sugar on top of these boild plantain rounds and serve.
