- Maida/all purpose flour - 2 cups
- Brown Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Egg - 1 no
- Melted Butter - 1cup
- Baking powder- 1/4 tsp
- Baking soda - 1/4 tsp
- Milk - 1/2 cup
- Salt - 1/4 tsp
- Vanilla essence - 1/4 tsp
- Guavas - 8 small
METHOD:
- Take 6 or 8 small guavas.
- Wash the guavas well.
- Peel and chop the guavas and blend in a blender until creamy and smooth.
- Strain through a fine-mesh sieve over a large bowl, pressing down on the solids in the strainer with a large spoon to extract every last bit of juice.
- Pour into a glass and keep it aside.
- Preheat oven to 425°F. Grease the pan well with butter.
- In a large bowl, sift together flour,baking soda and baking powder.
- Add butter to this and mix well.
- Now add brown sugar and continue to mix for 5 minutes.
- Add beaten eggs and mix well.
- Add vanilla extract and mix well.
- Mix and whisk the flour and creamed ingredients.
- Add warm milk, mix well.
- Now add guava juice to this and whisk in a clock wise direction, very well.
- Pour the batter into the cake pan and level the batter.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until done.
- You can insert a wooden pick in the center of the cake to test if the cake is fully baked.
- Cool in pan for 20 minutes.
- Then invert cake onto cooling rack to cool completely.
- Enjoy the Guava cake with hot Tea.
