DIY–Paper Craft: Peacock Love

This beautiful Peacock love  paper craft is a perfect Wedding anniversary gift or Valentine’s day gift.

Paper Craft Peacock Love (1)

I download this  beautiful peacock GSD file from http://einnej.typepad.com/einnej/ and cut this file using Silhouette Cameo Electronic Cutting Tool.

Paper Craft Peacock Love (2)

First I cut out each of the pieces to make two  peacocks  in desired color cardstock papers. ( I cut out 2 copy of peacock body in both black and blue color cardstocks). Using household glue, attach one blue cardstock peacock body on top of the black peacock body. then I just arranged all the small pieces (feather, eyes, etc.) of each peacock together in place to make sure that it looks good before glue it.

I glued all the piece in place. Then I decorated peacock feathers with Red Sequins, white and gold seed beads.

I glued each peacock in a white 12*12 Linen Cardstock in desired style then I glued the Linen Cardstock to a 14*14 inch  thick cardboard ( so I got a thick base). Then I framed this beautiful picture using old vinyl blind (glued vinyl blind in all sides of the cardboard for framing the picture).

Paper-cuts are chiefly used as decorations. I really enjoy paper crafts for several reasons. First, there are so many things I can create from a few pieces of colorful paper or card stock. Another reason is paper crafts are economical and easy to store.  And paper crafts range from simple to complex. We can  use recycled papers, tissue papers, magazines, wrappers, envelopes and cardboard containers for paper crafts.

Wild Poinsettia

Poinsettias (2)

The poinsettia is a native plant of Mexico. It is particularly well known for its red and green foliage and is widely used in Christmas floral displays.

Poinsettias (3)

According to the University of Illinois Extension, the showy red blooms of the poinsettia are not flowers. They are “bracts” (modified leaves). The flowers of a poinsettia plant are the small yellow flowers in the center of the bracts.

Poinsettias (2)

I download this GSD , SVG  file from  http://einnej.typepad.com/ and I cut this file using Silhouette CAMEO®. This design shows one long branch of the wild poinsettia tree.

WORK IN PROGRESS:

Poinsettias (2)

First I cut out each pieces to make this beautiful Poinsettia in desired color cardstocks . I used green,White  yellow , and red cardstock papers for this project.

Poinsettia (2)

In this GSD file, the stem and  leaves (green) are all welded together.

Poinsettia (4)

There are separate cuts for the “bracts” (cut out in Red cardstock).  You can cut  out 3 “bracts” (modified leaves) in desired colors.

Poinsettia (5)Now you just cut out yellow “flower”  for the centers.

Poinsettias (2)

Using household glue, I attached the green stem and leaves on a 12*12 inch white Linen Cardstock. Then  glue each red  foliage on the end of each green stem. Now glue yellow flowers  on the center of each Red foliage. DONE !!!!

Poinsettias (1)

I attached the white Linen Cardstock  with Wild Poinsettia flowers and leaves to a  thick 14*14 inch  cardboard ( so I got a thick base). Then  I framed this beautiful picture using old vinyl blind (glued vinyl blind in all sides of the cardboard for framing the picture).

Poinsettias (3)

Poinsettias have also been called the lobster flower and the flame-leaf flower, due to the red color.

You can either buy a quilling tool or improvise by using a long needle or any thin piece of metal.  Quick drying glue is advisable and preferably in a fine tip container. Another useful tool is the circle template board; you can improvise by using push pins to make uniform sizes of circles.

Paper quilling is an extraordinary paper craft because not only is it very simple to learn and make, it is also an art that is beneficial to our mind, body and heart, regardless of age or gender.
