Morning Buns


 INGREDIENTS:
  • All purpose flour - 500 g /18 oz 
  • Salt - 1/4 tsp
  • Butter - 20 g /0.7 oz
  • Sugar - 25 g / 1 0z
  • Fresh yeast - 1 Tbsp
  • Egg yolk - 1 
  • Milk - 285 ml 
  • Egg - 1 (beaten with 2 tbsp of milk)
  • Rock salt - 1/2 Tbsp (optional)
  • White sesame seed - 1 Tbsp
  • All purpose flour - 50 g, for dusting

METHOD:
Make the dough:

  • Take a mixing bowl and add 500 g flour, salt, sugar, yeast, egg yolk, butter and finally pour in the milk.
  • Blend all the ingredients well in a mixer in slow speed  for 5 minutes then stop and check the dough. 
  • If the dough sticks on the mixer , ease it off  from the mixer with your hands. 
  • Then mix it again on medium speed for 3 minutes.
  • Then take the dough out of the bowl.
  • Dust some flour in your work surface.
  • Place the dough in your work surface, where you sprinkled flour and knead it well with your palm until smooth for a couple of minutes.
  • Now place the dough in a bowl. 
  • Cover it with a tea towel and leave it for about an hour to get it rise up.
Make the Buns:
  • Punch the dough down to the bowl to remove the air. 
  • Dust some flour in your work surface and place the dough on top and roll it into a long strip.
  • Now cut the dough to lengthwise and cut across 4 times to make 10 buns.
  • Now take 1 piece of dough and roll ot into a long strip.
  • Then hold both ends and tie it into a knot.Make it to a bun shape.
  • Make like this 5 bun shapes.
  • Make the other 5 in to round buns.
  • Now place all buns in a baking tray and cover the buns with a tea towel. 
  • Leave it for 30 minutes to make the buns rise up.
  • In the mean time preheat the oven to 300degree F.
  • Now coat the bun with egg wash using a brush and then sprinkle sesame seeds followed by the salt. 
  • Bake the bun for 15 minutes.
  • Once buns have turned golden brown color remove it from oven and serve warm.
